Yes, GTA 6 has an official controller, and it comes in two versions. Sony’s DualSense Grand Theft Auto VI White Limited Edition and Black Limited Edition cost $84.99 each and ship on November 19, 2026, the day the game launches. The catch: both sold out within hours of pre-orders opening, and there’s no official PS5 bundle to fall back on.

Price, release date and where to buy

Sony revealed both controllers at the September 3 State of Play, and pre-orders opened September 10 at 10 a.m. ET (7 a.m. PT) on PlayStation Direct. The two share a price and a launch date but not a store: the White one also went to retailers, while the Black one is a PlayStation Direct exclusive in the US.

PlayStation Direct limits each order to one controller. Pre-orders there also come with free launch-day delivery, so a confirmed order should land with the game on November 19.

What the two designs actually look like

Both share a shimmering, color-shifting finish that Sony describes as the hues of a Vice City sunset mixed with neon glow. In the product shots, it runs from electric blue under the touchpad to deep purple on the grips. Palm trees are molded into the shell itself, so you feel them as much as see them, and the touchpad carries the GTA 6 logo with its palm trees.

The split is day versus night. The White edition is Vice City at daybreak, all white sand and pastel skies. The Black edition is the city’s nightlife, what Sony calls Vice City’s “iconic nightlife.”

Is it sold out, and will it restock?

Sold out, yes. On September 10, PlayStation Direct’s queue ran past an hour with checkout errors, and Best Buy, Target and GameStop ran dry within hours. The UK sold through in about two hours. As of October 28, PlayStation Direct lists both editions as “Currently Unavailable.”

Sony hasn’t announced a restock. Both PlayStation Direct pages are still live with a November 19 date, so a late drop isn’t ruled out, but nothing confirms one. Meanwhile eBay listings appeared the same day at $130 to $150, roughly $45 to $65 over list for a controller that, as the next section explains, plays exactly like a regular DualSense.

Does it change anything in the game?

No. The limited editions keep the standard DualSense hardware: haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, built-in mic and speaker, USB-C. Those are the features Sony pitches for GTA 6 on PS5, with haptics and trigger resistance reacting to the action and the controller speaker adding sound effects layered with vibration. Any DualSense you already own gets all of it.

The controllers are part of Sony’s marketing deal with Rockstar, the one behind the “plays best on PS5” line. That’s also why they won’t help on Xbox: the DualSense doesn’t work on Xbox Series X|S. Sony lists PC and Mac support, but GTA 6 has no PC version announced yet. If you’re still choosing a console, our PS5 vs Xbox Series and PS5 Pro breakdowns cover what matters.

Why there’s no GTA 6 PS5 bundle

Sony and Rockstar haven’t announced a GTA 6 console bundle, and with three weeks to go, the DualSense pair is the whole official hardware lineup. That breaks with GTA V’s launch years, when PlayStation sold the game inside the box.

Some retailers fill the gap themselves: in Germany, Otto lists PS5 packs with the game in three variants. Nothing similar is official in the US. FAQ

How much is the GTA 6 PS5 controller?

Each of the two limited editions, White and Black, costs $84.99 in the US (£74.99, €84.99, ¥12,480). They ship on November 19, 2026, the same day as the game.

Is the GTA 6 controller sold out?

Yes, for now. Pre-orders opened September 10 and both editions sold out within hours at PlayStation Direct and major US retailers. On October 28, PlayStation Direct still shows both as "Currently Unavailable." Sony hasn't announced a restock.

Is there a GTA 6 PS5 bundle?

Not an official one. Sony and Rockstar haven't announced a console bundle for GTA 6, and the official hardware tie-in is limited to the two DualSense controllers. Some retailers outside the US, like Otto in Germany, have put together their own PS5 packs with the game.

Does the GTA 6 controller work on Xbox or PC?

It doesn't work on Xbox. Sony lists it as compatible with PS5, PC, Mac and mobile devices, but GTA 6 itself launches only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC version announced.

Do you need the GTA 6 controller to get haptics in GTA 6?

No. Haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and the controller speaker are standard DualSense features. The limited editions only change the look.

If a restock drops before November 19, we'll update this page. Alfred, GTA Zone.
