Want a tank mid-game, maxed-out armor, or to make Vice City’s cars fly? One reminder before you start: codes are entered during gameplay, never from a menu, and a “Cheat activated” message confirms each success.
Every GTA Vice City cheat code
On PC and mobile: during gameplay (outside any menu), simply type the code as letters. On mobile, bring up the keyboard (often by holding the Home button) then enter the code.
On a PlayStation controller: input the button combination during gameplay, fairly quickly, and not while paused.

The three weapon packs stack just like in GTA III: re-entering the same code once the guns are in your inventory tops up ammo endlessly. On the flip side, Vice City has no equivalent of San Andreas’s HESOYAM, which would also hand you cash. To survive, you chain ASPIRINE and PRECIOUSPROTECTION before every shootout.

Good news for garage fans: Vice City is packed with codes that spawn vehicles. The PANZER tank has its controller combo, but most of the others are only available by typing on the keyboard (PC and mobile): GETTHEREFAST (Sabre Turbo), THELASTRIDE (the Romero hearse), ROCKANDROLLCAR (the Love Fist band’s limo) or RUBBISHCAR (the Trashmaster garbage truck). For driving, GRIPISEVERYTHING improves grip and jumps.

The chaos doesn’t stop there. FANNYMAGNET makes Tommy irresistible, LOOKLIKELANCE turns him into Lance Vance, and FOXYLITTLETHING into Mercedes Cortez. Watch out, though, for the two irreversible codes: FIGHTFIGHTFIGHT (citywide riot) and NOBODYLIKESME (pedestrians hate Tommy). Once saved, they stay active and can wreck missions, so always keep a clean file on the side.
How Vice City’s cheats actually work
Released on October 29, 2002, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City shares the RenderWare engine and the cheat grammar of GTA III: you enter a sequence of keys mid-game, and the game compares a hash of the code against an internal table. That’s why on PC some misspelled variants can still trigger an effect, through hash collisions. On the original controller versions (PlayStation 2, Xbox), there’s no keyboard: everything runs through button combinations, similar in spirit to those of San Andreas two years later.
In 2026, most people play Vice City through GTA: The Trilogy The Definitive Edition, released November 11, 2021 on PS5, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC, then on mobile via Netflix on December 14, 2023. Most codes survive there, with a few remaster quirks: the black-traffic code (IWANTITPAINTEDBLACK) colors cars bright green instead of black, for instance. And as everywhere in the series, cheating can disable your session’s achievements.

Cheat codes: our expert tips
Three habits to enjoy the codes without breaking your save. First, save to a separate slot before your first cheat: irreversible effects and mission bugs are unforgiving. Second, remember that no code gives you money, so to finish the adventure cleanly you have to invest in Tommy’s businesses. Finally, if you’re going for 100 percent or the Definitive Edition achievements, play the campaign cheat-free and keep the codes for a “sandbox” save.
