GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games and its publisher Take-Two have confirmed the date after two delays. Prices and editions haven't been revealed yet, and no PC version has an official date.
A launch locked in for November 19, 2026
The date is set for November 19, 2026. Take-Two reaffirmed it during its latest investor call: the game ships that day on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S (official Rockstar announcement). This comes straight from the publisher, not a leak, so it's the solid ground to build on.
Two delays before the current date
Grand Theft Auto VI was first aiming for fall 2025. The game slipped first to May 26, 2026, then to November 19, 2026. Rockstar chalked up those delays to wanting to finish the game at the level of quality fans expect, rather than rushing it out.
The PC version is still up in the air
Rockstar hasn't announced any PC version. The studio usually ships its GTA games on consoles first, then on PC one to two years later, which is exactly what happened with GTA 5. A 2027 PC release is therefore plausible, but it isn't confirmed.
Price and editions: still unknown
Neither the price nor the editions have been revealed. Rockstar typically shares these details a few months before launch, alongside the opening of pre-orders. Several outlets expect them in summer 2026, with no official confirmation. For reference, recent big console releases sell between $69.99 and $79.99, but there's nothing to say GTA 6 will land at that price.
Pre-orders: still closed
As of now, no official pre-order is open and no price has been confirmed. The "$70 to $150" ranges floating around are still estimates pulled from leaks. We break it all down, the likely date, the expected editions and where to reserve without getting burned, in our GTA 6 pre-order guide.
Why a November launch
November 19, 2026 falls right in the middle of the holiday season, the single biggest window of the year for video games. Take-Two is counting on GTA 6 to deliver the best results in its history: launching the game then maximizes year-end sales. It'll be carried by the playable duo of Jason and Lucia, the first pair of protagonists in the main series.
Another delay looks unlikely
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has dismissed the idea: he assured investors the November 19 date holds, and the publisher has built its financial forecasts around it. A delay remains theoretically possible, Rockstar has already pushed the game twice, but nothing right now points that way.
