GTA Online Nightclub Guide: How to Make Passive Money
The Nightclub is the best passive income in GTA Online: location, upgrades, technicians and selling stock, the complete guide to making it pay.
Contents
The Nightclub is the most laid-back business in GTA Online: a safe that fills itself based on the club’s popularity, and an underground warehouse where technicians stockpile goods from your other businesses while you’re off doing something else. Here’s how to pick one, kit it out and make it pay without even thinking about it.
How the Nightclub works: two income streams, one building
Introduced on July 24, 2018 with the After Hours update, the Nightclub brings back Tony Prince, the Gay Tony of The Ballad of Gay Tony, as your business partner. On paper, you’re running a trendy venue with real DJs (Solomun, Tale Of Us, Dixon, The Black Madonna); in practice, it’s a front for a criminal operation set up in the basement.
The club generates two separate revenue streams. Upstairs, popularity fills a safe hidden in your office, which is close to automatic income. Downstairs, the warehouse lets technicians siphon off production from your other businesses, which you then sell in bulk. The first works without owning anything else; the second turns into a cash machine as soon as you hook up your other businesses. That double payout is what makes it a cornerstone of any big portfolio, right alongside the best businesses in GTA Online.
Which location to pick and how much it costs
There are ten locations, from GTA$1,080,000 for Elysian Island, the cheapest, to GTA$1,700,000 for West Vinewood, the most expensive. Here’s the key point: every club earns exactly the same and offers the same activities. Location only affects your drive time between the club and your drop-off points during sales.
In practice, avoid the southernmost spots (LSIA, Elysian Island, Cypress Flats): their missions send you way out to the edges of the map. A central club like La Mesa, or a Vinewood club if you’re willing to spend a bit more, cuts down on back-and-forth in public sessions, where every minute counts. If you’re just getting started in GTA Online, start small: you can always move later.
The popularity safe: near-passive money
This is the income too many players overlook, and yet it’s the most relaxing money in the game. The safe in your office fills up every in-game day based on popularity, up to GTA$50,000 per day at max popularity. Its capacity is capped, so empty it regularly to avoid leaving money on the table.
Popularity, meanwhile, drops by roughly 5% per in-game day. To bump it back up, you have two options: run a promotion mission (short, out in the field), or swap your resident DJ for GTA$10,000, which instantly restores 10% popularity. An extra DJ costs GTA$100,000 the first time, but after that, alternating between two residents is enough to keep the club at the top for pocket change. Even at 95% popularity, the safe still pays its full GTA$50,000: basically free money for a few seconds of attention.
The warehouse and technicians: the real cash machine
Down in the basement, the warehouse handles seven types of goods, each tied to a business you already own. Technicians produce them passively, and you don’t have to resupply those businesses: they just need to stay up and running. The catch is that you only get five technicians. The golden rule: assign them to the five most profitable goods and skip the last two.
| Goods (warehouse) | Source business | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Cargo and Shipments | Special Cargo warehouse / Hangar | Assign |
| Sporting Goods | Bunker | Assign |
| South American Imports | Cocaine | Assign |
| Pharmaceutical Research | Meth Lab | Assign |
| Cash Creation | Counterfeit Cash | Assign |
| Organic Produce | Weed Farm | Skip |
| Printing and Copying | Document Forgery | Skip |
The upgrade that really matters here is Equipment, at GTA$1,425,000: it significantly speeds up warehouse production. The Security upgrade (GTA$695,000) is optional; all it does is delay the rare raids on your stock. If you have a Bunker feeding Sporting Goods, our Bunker guide explains how to keep it running at full capacity.
Selling your stock without getting robbed
A full warehouse sells for around GTA$1,000,000, but be careful: three goods (cocaine, meth, counterfeit cash) stop accumulating after 20 real-world hours. That’s your cue to sell. When you do, Tony Prince takes a 10% cut of your earnings, capped at GTA$100,000.
There’s just one drawback, and it’s a big one: deliveries only happen in a public session. Three habits help limit the damage. Sell in a sparsely populated lobby, or switch to free aim to discourage griefers. Turn on Ghost Organization from the CEO menu to hide your vehicle on the map. And armor up your fleet: the Vapid Speedo Custom comes free with the club, backed up by the Mule Custom and the Pounder Custom for larger loads. The good news: your vehicle stays invulnerable until you leave the club, giving you time to scout for threats.

Is it still worth it in 2026?
Yes, even more than before. Warehouse payouts got a boost in 2022, which breathed new life into the business. Up against the big active earners like the Cayo Perico Heist solo or the Acid Lab, the Nightclub doesn’t win on raw returns. But no other business works so quietly in the background: you get paid while you do everything else. For a solid portfolio, the winning combo is still one active business that generates cash, plus the Nightclub and a Bunker stacking up money on the side, as we break down in our guide to making money in GTA Online.
What about GTA 6?
The Nightclub’s business model (passive income, criminal front, remote management) laid the groundwork for everything GTA Online offers today. What Rockstar does with it in Grand Theft Auto VI remains to be seen: if that question keeps you up at night, we break down the future of GTA Online after GTA 6.
FAQ
How much does a Nightclub cost in GTA Online?
The cheapest club is Elysian Island at GTA$1,080,000, and the most expensive is West Vinewood at GTA$1,700,000. They all offer exactly the same income and the same activities: location only affects how far you drive on deliveries. After that, budget GTA$1,425,000 for the Equipment Upgrade and, optionally, GTA$695,000 for the Security Upgrade.
Is the Nightclub a good business for beginners?
Yes, it's one of the best places to start. The popularity safe generates near-passive cash without owning any other business, and the non-warehouse activities can be run in an invite-only session. You just need enough to buy the club and the Staff Upgrade up front; the warehouse pays off later, once you own other businesses to link to it.
How much does the Nightclub make per hour?
The popularity safe alone pays up to GTA$50,000 per in-game day at full popularity, which is close to automatic income just for swapping DJs. On the warehouse side, a full stock sells for around GTA$1,000,000 every 20 real-world hours, minus Tony Prince's 10% cut (capped at GTA$100,000). It's the best income-to-effort ratio in the game for semi-passive money.
Which businesses should I link to the Nightclub?
The warehouse handles up to five technicians. The five most profitable goods to assign them to are Cargo and Shipments (Special Cargo warehouse or Hangar), Sporting Goods (Bunker), South American Imports (Cocaine), Pharmaceutical Research (Meth) and Cash Creation (Counterfeit Cash). You just need to own those businesses and keep them running: no need to resupply them, the Nightclub skims off them on its own.
Why can I only sell my stock in a public session?
Like most sales in GTA Online, Nightclub warehouse deliveries only start in a public session, so your cargo is exposed to other players. To cut the risk, sell in a sparsely populated lobby, use Ghost Organization from the CEO menu to hide your vehicle, or switch to free aim. The vehicle stays invulnerable until you leave the club.
Keep the club packed and the van armored, and we'll see you on the dance floor. Alfred, GTA Zone.
