On October 15, 2026, at 9 a.m. ET, Rockstar dropped the Launch Trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI: 90 seconds, captured entirely in-game on PS5 according to the studio, and nearly 41 million views on its YouTube channel as of October 18. Less chaos than the first two, more story. Here’s what matters, shot by shot.

What it confirms

Not many announcements, but three sure things. The November 19, 2026 date is holding, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and the end card shows “Pre-order now” next to the PS5 logo. The trailer also opens on a “Plays best on PS5” card featuring a PS5 Slim, not the Pro, as VGTimes pointed out. And Rockstar spells it out plainly: Justice is composing the game’s original score.

Not a word about PC. For where things stand on that front, check out our GTA 6 PC rundown.

The Keys and Brian’s marina

This is the real visual first. The video opens on a pickup towing a Jet Ski, then cuts to the “Welcome to The Keys” sign, complete with a painted heron and shark. As Eurogamer notes, this part of Leonida had been almost entirely missing from previous trailers and gameplay footage.

The camera then swoops down on Brian’s Marina, Brian Heder’s boatyard. Jason is polishing a boat hull when he picks up his phone. VGTimes reads this as the moment he learns Lucia is out of prison. Eurogamer notes the call appears to be a collect call, which could point to someone phoning from inside. Two plausible readings, neither confirmed.

Lucia, Jason and the past catching up

A two-second shot around 0:51 shows the couple’s ankles in the shower, and one of them is wearing a black device. Eurogamer reads it as a parole ankle monitor, VGTimes as a tracking bracelet following her release. Either way, it fits Lucia’s prison backstory, set up as early as Trailer 1.

As for Jason, around 0:40 he’s wearing a “U.S. Army” T-shirt as he faces Lucia in front of shipping containers. VGTimes reports a voiceover about a military career that ended badly. The shot of three armed men in the swamp, around 0:28, could tie back to that past, or simply be a mission in the Grassrivers. SVG spotted night vision goggles in it. The shower scenes, meanwhile, look like cutscenes according to SVG. For more on the duo, we’ve broken down Jason and Lucia’s relationship.

Heists, stunts and choppers

The rest of the trailer is a string of mission teasers. A round vault door swings open onto a smoke-filled room (0:35). A helicopter slams a suspended load into the facade of a tower in a shower of glass (1:08), then a man hangs off a chopper high above the city (1:10). Eurogamer sees a helicopter getaway gone wrong. SVG counts at least four helicopter shots, which lines up nicely with our GTA VI heists coverage.

Around 0:49, a dirt bike rider launches over the rooftops. SVG reads it as the return of stunt jumps, which numbered 50 in GTA V, though without the slow-mo or the on-screen prompt that usually flags them: nothing official yet. A few more fan-favorite details: a green iguana on the road (0:21), a very real nuisance in South Florida, and a biplane trailing pink smoke over the beach with a man standing on the wing (0:55).

Justice, after Tom Petty and The Pointer Sisters

As PC Gamer points out, the first two trailers were built on licensed hits. This one features a brand-new track, “Flower in a Hurricane,” by Justice with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The song is also on GTA VI: The Album, which you can already pre-save on streaming platforms.

Going with an original track instead of a classic hit also turns the trailer into a showcase for the album. We’ve rounded up everything on the GTA 6 radio stations and soundtrack.

The last trailer before launch?

Eurogamer calls it likely the final trailer before launch, though Rockstar hasn’t confirmed that. The next guaranteed milestone is the November 19 release. Until then, it all comes down to editions and pre-orders.

FAQ

When did the GTA 6 Launch Trailer come out?

On October 15, 2026, at 9 a.m. ET (3 p.m. Paris time), on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel. It runs 90 seconds and, according to Rockstar, was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5. By October 18, it was closing in on 41 million views on that channel.

What song is in the GTA VI Launch Trailer?

"Flower in a Hurricane" by Justice, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The track appears on GTA VI: The Album, the official soundtrack, and Rockstar says Justice composed the game's original score.

Is Lucia wearing an ankle monitor in the trailer?

There's clearly a device on her ankle in a shower shot around 0:51. Eurogamer reads it as a parole ankle monitor, which would fit the prison backstory shown as early as Trailer 1. Rockstar hasn't commented, so it's an interpretation, not a confirmation.

Does the Launch Trailer announce a PC version of GTA VI?

No. GTA VI launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Thanks to the Sony marketing deal, the end card only shows the PS5 logo and "Pre-order now." No PC version has been announced so far.

Just five weeks to go, and we'll break down everything that drops between now and then. Alfred, GTA Zone.
